FIREup at the FIREcup!! June 27-29, 2008
Since 1978 teams from all over the upper Midwest have been flocking to Burnsville for the best fields, best refs, best weather and best competition. Join us this summer for our 30th Annual Burnsville FIREcup International Invitational...June 27-29, 2008! Get in one last, great tournament before the 4th of July break and the USA Cup/Districts/State Tournament push!!
The FIREcup is consistently in the top three tournaments in the state in size. Over the past three years we averaged nearly 300 teams per year, with participants from Canada, Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, and the Dakotas joining Minnesota teams in vying for the FIREcup.
Why do they choose the FIREcup? Year after year they tell us they appreciate the strong organization of the tournament, the beautiful fields, the balanced and diverse competition, the quality refereeing, and the fun extras that are part of the FIREcup. They also love the fact that the FIREcup is an all-inclusive tournament, with brackets for both boys and girls of all levels from Under-9 to Under-19. And, top it all off, we are proud to again host a Saturday-night international professional soccer match featuring the MN Lightning vs Winnipeg South End United!
In addition to a great tournament, Burnsville is ideally located as a jumping off point to all the attractions of the Twin Cities area. Burnsville is within 15 minutes of both downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul, Valleyfair and just across the river from Mall of America!!
New this year...all games will follow standard MYSA game length rules. Over the course of the weekend that can add up to an extra 30-80 minutes of soccer over those tournaments that shorten games. You'll get your money's worth at the FIREcup!
We guarantee every team a minimum of 3 games. All Under-9 and Under-10 receive participation awards. Under-11 and older teams have the opportunity to advance to a championship game, with awards to the 1st and 2nd place finishers. Tournament fees are:
| Under-9/10 = $325 |
Under-11/12 = $350 |
Under-13/14 = $375 |
Under-15 through Under-19 = $400 |
The registration deadline was May 7th, 2008. We are now in the process of bracketing the teams who registered.
